Happy Holidays! Here is our Holiday special we recorded last year. The sentiment is still here, especially now, and we hope you are staying safe and healthy in this difficult time.
We have loved performing in Prospect Park all summer and we decided to bring our recording equipment to capture what we have been working on. One of our favorite crowd pleasers is “El Gato Montes” by Manuel Penella arranged by Jay Lichtmann. The piece is exciting and so much fun to play. Enjoy!
Here’s one of the standards from the Brass Quintet repertoire: “La Marche” from the Suite from the Monteregian Hills by Morley Calvert. Calvert is a Canadian composer and the piece has many call and response sections, strong fanfares, and beautiful lyrical melodies.
While Brass Quintet is a relatively new instrumentation, many people have done some incredible arrangements of older works and many of these work so well it is almost as if it was written for brass quintet all along. One of these pieces is the first movement of “Three Pieces” by Ludvig Maurer. Maurer was a German composer in the 1800s and this piece is such a beautiful one for weddings and other ceremonial events. Enjoy!
